Coteaux du Languedoc

Coteaux du Languedoc Appellation is the largest area of the Languedoc-Roussillon region and has approx 21,000 hectares comprising of an area that stretches from Nimes and ends in Narbonne. Sun, wind and relative dryness links all the Languedoc regions together as well as their red grape varieties. Carignan has been restricted in this region with other grapes coming to the fore such as Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah. Great success has been made with single variety wines such as Syrah, denominated under the Vin de Pays label, at the same time Grenache and Mourvedre have had a growing importance with the best producers.
